India Introduces Unified Accreditation Framework for AYUSH Hospitals

The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) has announced the implementation of the New Accreditation Standards for AYUSH Hospitals, effective August 1, 2026. The framework establishes a single accreditation standard across Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy, and Sowa-Rigpa, replacing the existing discipline-specific approach. New applications submitted after July 31, 2026, will generally be assessed under the unified framework.

Why This Matters

The introduction of common accreditation standards marks an important step in the formalization of India's AYUSH ecosystem. As traditional healthcare increasingly intersects with wellness, preventive care, medical tourism, and integrative medicine, stronger quality benchmarks can improve institutional credibility, attract investment, and support broader sector growth. The move also reflects a wider policy push toward standardization and governance across emerging healthcare segments.
